Course Description
The course
introduces the student to the fundamentals of accounting information systems
and how they function within organizations. Students will explore business
processes and documentation of internal controls related to accounting systems,
as well as features found in accounting applications and software. Students
will learn how accounting information systems are used for data analysis and
problem solving.
Course Outcomes

Explain how
accounting information systems function in today’s business environment in
small, medium, and large enterprises

Diagram key
elements of typical business processes and their associated transactions in a
computerized accounting environment

Identify
internal controls and sources of internal control guidance as related to
accounting systems, and how to document system related internal controls

Illustrate
features found in accounting application software (vendor and customer
management, general ledger, financial statement preparation, payments and cash
receipts, etc.)
Course Duration
The minimum duration of the programme is 3
months and the maximum is 6 months.
